Equipping School Staff and Parents with the Skills for Better Integrate Students with Visual Impairments in the Classroom

The C.l.a.s.s.room project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, KA2 – Strategic Partnership for School Education. C.l.a.s.s.room focuses on equipping school staff (teachers and LSAs) from primary and secondary schools with awareness on the challenges and needs of visually impaired students within the classroom as well as knowledge on the modern equipment (digital tools) that can be used by such students to keep up with their classmates. Teachers who participate in the project will be provided with teaching methods they can use together with the students to make the classroom an inclusive educational space for students with visual impairments. C.l.a.s.s.room also seeks to involve the parents of students with visual impairments so that they can be familiar with the training developed for teachers and LSAs. By keeping the parents aware of the way their children are being taught and assisted at school they will be able to assist them to utilise modern equipment and technology for homeworks and home studying. This ensures that children with visual impairments are supported by a holistic support system which stretches seamlessly from the school environment to the home environment. The project is coordinated by Association to Assist Visually Impaired Persons (Malta) and is implemented in partnership with GLAFKA s.r.o. (Czech Republic), Ankara Milli Egitim Mudurlugu (Turkey), Association Euni Partners (Bulgaria) and ASSOCIATION LEARNING CITIES (Italy).)
