Last Workshop on debtes of Active citizenship within project EUth

The Association “Euni Partners” held the final event of the debate activity on the topic of “Active Citizenship” at the Vocational High School of Construction, Architecture, and Geodesy “Vasil Levski”. The event was part of the project “EUth: Empowering Youth and Democracy in Europe,” funded by the Erasmus+ program.

On May 29th, 2025, a total of 68 students from Vocational High School of Construction, Architecture, and Geodesy “Vasil Levski” took part in the event and debated the following topics:

1. Active participation of young people in public life can make the world a better place;

2. Volunteering builds a responsible and active civil society;

3. Pros and cons of mandatory voting.

The debates encouraged 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students to present structured and well-founded arguments in support of their positions, to work as a team, and to show tolerance and understanding toward opposing viewpoints. Even when their personal opinions differed from the position they had to defend, students were able to develop appropriate and logical arguments while maintaining a critical perspective on the issue at hand. Throughout the debates, young people realized the importance of presenting reasoned arguments and considering diverse opinions on a given topic.

At the end of the event, participants shared that the debated topics had provoked them to reflect on the rights, responsibilities, and engagement of every citizen in a democratic society.
