Association Euni Partners participated on November 26th and 27th in the Final Conference meeting and closing event of the Inequalities Matter project in the Municipality of Lousada, Portugal. Regional administration Blagoevgrad participated in the project as an associated partner. The project is co-funded by the CERV programme of the European Union. This event brought together approximately 130 participants, including international stakeholders, to reflect on the project’s success in promoting inclusive environmental citizenship.
Over the past year and a half, the Inequalities Matter project has worked to empower marginalsied groups of society, such as migrants, ethnic minorities, vulnerable youth and elderly. During the conference, attendees reflected on the achievements of the project and gained insight from three national organisations: The Reformers, Vintage for a Cause and Associação ExtraGenária. These organisations highlighted inspiring ways that change is always possible, focusing on talent, upcycling and empowering senior citizens.
The event also included a heartwarming intergenerational tree-planting activity in Mata de Vilar forest, where elderly with their grandchildren from Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Mário Fonseca (Nogueira) joined project partners. This was a meaningful activity to represent the imporance of collaboration between generations and community involvement in environmental sustainability.
As the project approaches its final stage all partners are excited to witness the lasting impact it has had in spreading awareness and participation in environmental protection and social equity. Together the partners have taken significant steps towards ensuring all voices are heard in the conversation regarding sustainable development and social justice.
